FAQs

  • Coaching is a talking therapy technique. It's a collaborative conversation between the coach and client which is future and action-focussed, facilitating personal development and awareness to make positive change. It’s an opportunity to think out loud in a safe, non-judgmental space and be supported to explore what’s going on for you, your goals for the future, and what might be holding you back.

As a coach, I will support you to understand yourself at a deeper level and get clarity on how to move forward in a way that is aligned with you. This might involve looking at underlying beliefs or patterns, reframing negative thoughts and developing new strategies to help you navigate this time in your life.

My approach is person-centred, with elements of cognitive behavioural coaching and positive psychology. There will be the option of exercises between sessions and recommended resources to support your development.

  • Coaching focusses on everyday life challenges and existential issues. Therapy focusses on mental health issues, symptoms and treatment.

Coaching is present and future-focussed, with an emphasis on action and change. Coaching looks at personal development, existential issues, underlying beliefs and patterns, life changes and building mental resilience. It is not life advice.

Counselling and therapy deals more closely with clinical mental health difficulties and, often, the past. If you are experiencing acute distress or mental health difficulties, you should seek the support of a licensed therapist or counsellor.

  • The coaching journey can be flexible to suit you and your needs. Sessions are 60 minutes and take place virtually during weekday evenings or weekend afternoons.

I offer blocks of 4 sessions. In my experience as both a coach and a coachee, it takes at least 4 sessions to see lasting change. This is because the coaching relationship develops with time, the exploration builds on itself, and much of the reflection happens in between sessions.

Sessions must be paid for in advance. Cancellations made within 24 hours of a session will be charged.
